2011 Averett Baseball Season

Warren played his third year with the Springville Inferno. He made some great catches in the outfield and threw strikes while on the mound. In his off time with the Inferno he played for the Mapleton Braves. He became the strike out king while playing for the Braves. Warren's team took first in the league which means the team is going to the State Playoffs.

Wally played his second year with the Red Devils. This year he played with the boys his age. Wally LOVED pitching. Wally was the Closer on the team. Wally made some great plays while playing third base and in the outfield. Wally was recruited by the Mapleton Texas Rangers. They picked him up for his fast pitching and great catching skills. The Rangers took first place in the league which means they are heading to the State Tournament. GO RANGERS!!!

Bennett played for the Mapleton Pirates. He was the sharpest looking player on the field. Bennett always made sure his looked his best by wearing his red undershirt, red baseball cleats and yellow belt. Bennett showed his skills off while playing every position on the team. One highlight of the season was watching Bennett be a switch hitter. The pirates score more points than the other team at each game making them the champions.

We would like to thank ALL our devoted fans who travel all over the Utah Valley to come and support us. We love you and hope to see you next season.

Rob and I were invited to the end of school year theatre reading of some Fractured Fairy Tales at Brookside Elementary. Miss Sahlin's class did a terrific job entertaining parents and family. Wally was Prince Cicada in Spiderella. He was an awesome Prince that the girls swooned around.

The reading was held in the Tiger's Den, a comfortable sunken theatre where everyone could hear and see the events.
Good-bye school year 2010-2011.

There seems to be a misconception about my little Rocko. I heard some rumbling like he is naughty or such a pest. There cannot be any truth in that trash talk. Just to remind all of you how lucky you are to have Rocko in your life I am posting pictures of my best friend.

He is never annoying while sitting at the back door wanting in and out and in and out!

Opening of Fishing

I am giddy about the opening of fishing even IF there isn't an opening of fishing anymore as Rob reminds me every year. Memorial day weekend was a great weekend for fishing. I feel sorry for any of you who didn't get to celebrate the holiday by fishing. Here are some pictures of the hooked fish.Here is Bennett's big catch from Spanish Oaks reservoir. Wally also caught one. Grandpa John is a good fisherman and took the clan to the reservoir since the creek was running high and fast. It might appear that Rob caught this whopper but he didn't. It was caught by none other than Fishn' Betty right in the middle of the reservoir while trolling with rainbow pop gear and a trailing wedding ring! It was a little cold and the water at Deer Creek was high but the day was fantastic.

Boys will be BOYS...

It's been four months since our last injury so I guess you can say the Averett's are due for another trip to the ER. Warren thought it would be fun to see his little brother Bennett fly through the air and land safely on the couch. Bennett landed on the couch but he happened to find a not so SOFT spot on the couch. Bennett split open his forehead and definitely needed some medical attention. As usual, all our accidents happen after 8:00 P.M., so we ventured over to UVRMC to repair Bennett's forehead. Bennett lucked out and ended up having his forehead glued back together rather than having stitches put in.

The doctor cleaned out his wound and then placed some topical anesthetic on it to numb the area. The nurse placed a headband on his head to hold the anesthetic in place. Every good ball player knows that if you have a headband you need matching wrist bands.

Spring Break in SUNNY St. George

All of the kids had fun climbing up hills of volcanic rock.

Johnny found an amazing place to find petrified wood. Wally loaded up his Utah hoodie with all the wood he could find. Yes, that's wood up his sleeves, in his pockets and even in his hoodie.

We took the kids to Grafton to see a ghost town. We saw an old school, several old homes and visited the Grafton graveyard. The people in Grafton sure had a rough life.

A trip to St. George isn't complete without hiking at Zion's National Park.

We stopped at the Coral Pink Sand Dunes to have fun rolling, jumping and tumbling in the soft cold sand. Johnny couldn't resist being a little kid.

We would love to have a sandbox like this at home.

After spending 5 days in sunny St. George we had to face the reality that we needed to head home. Johnny was in charge of the route home. Yes, that means we took the long way home. We stopped at Bryce National Park to see the breath taking scenes, learned about the Anasazi Indians, at lunch at the park in Fremont and enjoyed each others company. Finally, after 13 hours of site seeing and playing we made it back to Springville to our home sweet home.

A New Little Trick

Now that Zoey knows how to roll over she is always trying to do it! We put her to bed the other night and she was in there about five minutes before she started crying really loudly. She will sometimes fuss a little, but this was definitely more than fussing! We went in to see what was wrong and this is what we found:

Once we got in there she thought it was great fun! Luckily we just tucked her blanket tight around her so she couldn't lift her legs and she went right to sleep! And sleep she does! She'll usually go from 7:30 pm to 7:30 am so we are loving life right now!
