A special family outing at Temple Square
Summer has flown by for the Averett Clan. We can't believe Johnny has to go back to work today. We thought it would be nice to have one last summer outing together as a family. With it being Johnny's last official day off we thought we would let him plan our outing to Temple Square. We started off by eating lunch at The Garden. The food was delicious and the scenery breath taking. We loved eating near the spires of the Salt Lake Temple.
Next we walked around Temple Square. We admired the beauty of the Salt Lake Temple, cooled off inside the Tabernacle, had some good laughs while watching movies about "Family, isn't it about Time" and learned more about the Salt Lake Temple at their new temple exhibit.
Warren knew it was picture time once we found ourselves in the bright colors of the flower gardens. The flowers there give you a glimpse of what the Garden of Eden must have been like.We watched the workers groom the gardens, trim the trees and was stunned to see them putting Christmas lights on the trees. It must take six months to put the lights up and six months to take them down.
We increase our testimonies of Joseph Smith by attending the movie at Legacy Theater. We appreciate all the hardship the saints went through on our behalf. We hope we can exhibit that much faith throughout our lives.Celebrating our last week of summer at Spanish Fork Reservior
Thanks Grandpa and Grandma for the boating trip to Yuba Lake!!!
Bennett was all smiles while spending the day at the lake. He didn't do any water activities but he sure had a lot of fun cheering us on. My favorite saying of the day was "pitch it". We always say "hit it" when we are ready for the boat to pull us out of the water while water skiing. Bennett ended up saying "pitch it". I guess he mixed up his baseball terms.
Wally was our "Captain" while boating. He helped Grandpa drive the boat safely around the lake. Wally also tried his skills at water skiing. Yes, Wally can officially water ski!!! Way to go Wally. Wally also caught a little fish named Jimmy with his bare hands. Who needs a fishing pole?
Warren had a lot of fun boating. He enjoyed trying to water ski. He says it isn't as scary as it looks. Warren needs one more boating trip and I know he would be able to get all the way up. Warren explored the beach looking for more fishing gear for his tackle box.Need family FUN? Do the Nebo Loop
Warren and Wally's friends got to hang out with us for 2 days while their moms went to girls camp. We had fun driving the beautiful Nebo Loop and enjoyed our leisure hike to Devil's Kitchen.
Our hike to Devil's Kitchen wasn't as long as we had hoped. We'd heard good things about "The Grotto" so we decided to try our luck there.
I highly recommend hiking "The Grotto". It's a simple hike that takes you back and forth across the creek and ends with a 30 foot waterfall.Tuesday, August 17, 2010
Celebrate Grace
Baby Grace is wearing her mom's blessing outfit. Thanks to Grandma Carol for keeping it in perfect condition! Grandma Lizzie provided some bling (pearl bracelet) and lace leggings! So perfect.
Grace LOVES to lay in her crib and talk to the lady bugs. Thank you Grandma Liz!

FUN at Palisades!!!
The Averett Clan went to Palisades so Johnny could golf in the Palisades State Ameteur. We didn't want Johnny to have ALL the fun so we planned a day of fishing and invited the best fisher of them all, Grandma Lizzy (we actually invited everyone in the family but she was the only one we "hooked"). The boys packed their rafts and life jackets for a day at the lake.Grandma Lizzy caught the first fish of the day. It only took her 20 minutes. She did need some help. Rhiannon had the let her know that her bobber was under the water. Warren caught it with the net and it was up to Rhiannon to get the hook out of the fish's mouth.
Wally and Bennett tried to catch baby fish with their fishing net.
Johnny surprised us and went out on the raft. He needs to remember to wear a life jacket!
Wally's heading out on one of his rafting excursions. Looks like trouble to me.
Bennett tried his luck at fishing. He didn't know that he was using the unlucky fishing pole. The fishing pole that doesn't catch ANY fish. He still had fun reeling in the line. Our trip to Palisades was a BLAST. Grandma Liz showed us all up by catching 5 fish. She practiced her catch and release skills after bringing in an over grown "gold fish" and she left a fish at the lake with a bobber attached to it. We tried twice to get that fish to shore but it out smarted us by taking the bobber under the water. The boys had fun making their own fishing poles out of sticks and tying fish line and a hook to their sticks. If they wasn't fishing they were paddeling their rafts around the lake. We had an unexpected storm come through which gave us time to practice our pictionary skills with crackers and cheese. On our way home we stopped at Manti Temple to run up the hills and visited a museum in Fairview.
